{"id":210137,"date":"2022-03-10T14:57:58","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T22:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/?p=210137"},"modified":"2022-03-10T14:57:58","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T22:57:58","slug":"fim-north-america-bans-russian-riders-ama-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/racing\/fim-north-america-bans-russian-riders-ama-events\/","title":{"rendered":"FIM North America Bans Russian Riders from AMA Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On March 5th, the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asphaltandrubber.com\/racing\/fim-suspends-russian-belarussian-motorcycles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine<\/a>, and in that announcement, it suspended the Motorcycle Federation of Russia (MFR) and the Belarusian Federation of Motorcycle Sport (BFMS) from FIM-sanctioned events.<\/p>\n<p>This action also banned Russian and Belarusian from FIM-sanctioned events, and recommended that&nbsp;affiliated members of the FIM and FIM Continental Unions take similar action.<\/p>\n<p>The FIM North America is going to heed that request, which means that Russian and Belarusian riders are banned from events that are operated by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and Canadian Motorcycle Association (CMA).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><div style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"aspha-408300160\" data-cfptl=\"1\" data-cfpa=\"177284\" data-cfpw=\"177284\"><div class=\"show-lg\">\r\n<!-- BEGIN SECURE JS TAG - Asphalt&Rubber 728x90 Leaderboard - DT -->\r\n<!--DO NOT MODIFY-->\r\n<SCRIPT SRC=\"https:\/\/secureads.digitalthrottle.com\/ttj?id=1204949&cb=[CACHEBUSTER]&referrer=asphaltandrubber.com\" TYPE=\"text\/javascript\"><\/SCRIPT>\r\n<!-- END TAG -->\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"show-sm show-md\">\r\n\t<!-- \/1049627\/468x60-article-leaderboard-table -->\r\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1580325311860-0' style='width: 468px; height: 60px;'>\r\n  <script>\r\n    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1580325311860-0'); });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"show-xs show-ty\">\r\n<!-- BEGIN SECURE JS TAG - Asphalt&Rubber 300x250 Rectangle - DT (Top) -->\r\n<!--DO NOT MODIFY-->\r\n<SCRIPT SRC=\"https:\/\/secureads.digitalthrottle.com\/ttj?id=1204947&cb=[CACHEBUSTER]&referrer=asphaltandrubber.com\" TYPE=\"text\/javascript\"><\/SCRIPT>\r\n<!-- END TAG -->\r\n<\/div><\/div><script type=\"text\/javascript\">;new advadsCfpAd( 177284 );<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The act by the FIM North America is mostly symbolic, as the organization explains below, the FIM&#8217;s action of suspending the MFR and BFMS was sufficient to halt Russian and Belarusian racers from competing:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Riders are typically required to secure start permissions from their home federations to race in a foreign country or be released from their home federations to the federation of the country hosting the event. Since the rights and privileges of the Russian and Belarusian federations have been suspended by the FIM, neither can grant a start permission nor provide a release.
